In a recent update, a post has gone viral on social media which has sparked debate and garnered attention among the public. In the post, a woman expressed her desire to get fed up with her lawyer husband’s chatter whenever they fight. The woman said that their five-year married life was on the verge of breaking. She claimed that her lawyer husband, whenever comes home, argues with her unnecessarily, and therefore, she is seeking advice from the people on social media.
The woman, 27, mentions that her husband, 36, turns every argument into a debate and is brilliant at pointing out her mistakes in her arguments. She adds that she feels unheard and devalued as she does not know some of the terms her husband uses and it frustrates her when her husband uses such words to dismiss her feelings. She even mentions that she is completely broken and feels powerless.
She narrates an incident from last week where she says that she and her husband fought about where to spend the holidays. Though she mentions the importance of spending this holiday with her family this year, instead of listening to her, her husband said that she is trying to make an “appeal to emotion”, “ad hominem”, and “false dichotomy”, which made her feel like small and stupid.
My (27F) lawyer husband’s (36M) debating skills are ruining my marriage. I feel absolutely crushed. How do I get through to him? byu/throwradebatinghubby inrelationship_advice
The post which was shared from the account with the handle @r/relationship advice went viral. A user commented, “Just yell Objection! This is our home, not a courtroom. Do you want to win the argument or fix the problem?” Another user commented that her lawyer husband is overturning her feelings and negotiating in bad faith.
The user also mentioned that he is purposefully using dense language so that he never has to have a genuine conversation. Another user shared a similar experience where she mentioned that her partner was also good at debating and arguing and used to turn everything against her and make her the wrong person.
