A 77-year-old Mitsubishi executive captured the internet’s attention with his soothing rendition of a popular Tamil song ‘Oruvan Oruvan’ from Rajinikanth’s iconic film ‘Muthu’ at Pondicherry University. The original song is sung by SP Balasubramaniam while the music is composed by AR Rahman. In the video, a senior executive is seen singing and dancing to the song, with students and colleagues cheering him on with applause. Following its upload on social media platform X (Formerly Twitter), the video quickly attracted significant attention from online users, earning praise and admiration.
The video was shared by Indian Railways Officer Ananth Rupanagudi. “At the age of 77, Mr. Kuboki San of Mitsubishi Corporation Ltd, Japan, at the GLOBIZZ 24 event conducted by Pondicherry University! He enthralled the MBA students with the Tamil Song from Rajnikanth starred movie “Muthu”, which has been rocking in Japan since 1995! Rajinikanth,” he wrote in the caption.
The video depicts Kuboki positioned by a podium, grasping a microphone. As the music fills the room, he effortlessly harmonises with the beats, igniting excitement in the students. Applause erupts along with cheers in support of his performance as Kuboki gracefully takes to the stage, blending dance moves with his soulful rendition of the song.

Since its upload on March 2, the video swiftly went viral, accumulating over three lakh views and garnering more than 5,400 likes. The comments section was filled with praise and admiration for Kuboki’s performance.
Many were captivated by his talent, while others humorously acknowledged the global reach of Rajinikanth, with comments like, “The reach of peak Thalaivar is miles ahead of any other Indian hero.”
A user remarked, “This is wholesome,” while another exclaimed, “How awesome is this!” An account highlighted, “Thalaivar craze for ‘Muthu’ in Japan.” Additionally, another emphasised, “Music passion knows no age limits.”
Released in 1995 and directed by KS Ravikumar, ‘Muthu’ stars Rajinikanth alongside Meena, with a supporting cast including Sarath Babu, Radha Ravi, Senthil, Vadivelu, Jayabharathi, Subhashri, and Ponnambalam. It is a remake of the Malayalam film ‘Thenmavin Kombath’ (1994).
‘Muthu’ achieved remarkable success, becoming the highest-grossing Indian film in Japanese history with earnings of 400 million Japanese Yen, approximately 23.5 crores. However, in 2022, ‘RRR’, featuring Ram Charan and Jr. NTR, surpassed this long standing record, emerging as the new blockbuster in the Japanese box office scene.
