HMD Global has managed to get a steady hand in the mobile market. Along with a slew of impressive smartphones, the company is also building up its feature phone portfolio. It launched a revamped version of the iconic 3310 and last year we saw the banana phone aka the Nokia 8810.
The company has now quietly launched a new feature phone. As per the official website, the Nokia 106 (2018) is officially priced in India at Rs 1,299. It is notable that you cannot buy the device yet from the official online store. However, the company has started taking registrations for notification when it goes on sale.
You can buy the phone from Flipkart and Amazon though, as both ecommerce websites are selling the device at Rs 1,309 and Rs 1,479 respectively. Both the prices are marginally higher than the official price. With that, Flipkart is offering a 10 percent instant discount to Axis Bank Buzz credit card users, and Amazon is offering 5 percent instant discount on HDFC credit EMI transactions and 10 percent instant discount on HDFC debit EMI transactions.
The Nokia 106 (2018) is claimed to offer up to 21 days of standby time or 15 hours of talk time on a full charge. It is a dual-SIM offering which features a 1.8-inch QQVGA (160x120 pixels) TFT display and is powered by a MediaTek MT6261D SoC, with 4MB of RAM and 4MB of onboard storage.
The handset comes with a tough polycarbonate build with inherent colouring, which makes the colours run through the material. The contoured design is claimed to make the Nokia 106 more ergonomic than its predecessor.
Other features include a microUSB port for charging, a 3.5mm headphone jack, FM radio, an LED flashlight and an 800mAh battery. It also comes preloaded with try-and-buy games like Nitro Racing, Danger Dash, Tetris and more. Oh, and it will also have the popular classic Snake Xenzia.
