iOS 9 will give your iPhone extended battery life at the cost of performance
With iOS 9, Apple introduced the Low Power Mode- a feature to keep the phone running when it is low on battery by cutting down on performance and background activity.

New Delhi: New tests of Apple’s latest iOS 9 have revealed that while the software will give your iPhone extended hours of battery life, it will significantly bring down its performance.

With iOS 9, Apple introduced the Low Power Mode- a feature to keep the phone running when it is low on battery by cutting down on performance and background activity.

The new feature was said to provide up to three hours of extended battery life, however, it has been found that it may also slow down the phone by almost 40 per cent, Mashable reports.

With the mode enabled, background app refresh and downloads are disabled; Mail app is turned to manual fetch; motion and brightness is reduced; and network speed is also reduced.

Google too has adopted a similar way of extending the battery of Android devices by bringing the battery saver mode to its Android 5.0 Lollipop OS.
