Google mobile search now shows latest, relevant posts from news sources

New Delhi: Google has updated its mobile search with a 'carousel' feature that shows recent posts related to any topic of search from news sources.

The search feature not only gives a link to the publication, but also highlights that publication's latest stories. For example if you search for hospitals, it will show up the latest news posts in the carousel.

A report in the Tech Crunch stated that while Google is mostly using this for news sources, it looks like it's also using a carousel view for YouTube videos when it thinks that's what the user is looking for.

In the Google Search blog, Ardan Arac, Product Manager notes, " Now, if you search on Google on your mobile, you'll see the freshest, most relevant content from within a single website grouped together in one easy-to-scan place."

He further explains, "When you search for a topic, just scroll down to see a "carousel" of recent articles, videos or more on that subject. Tap any link to read or watch exactly what you're interested in. For example, if you search for NPR, you'll see links to all their latest articles and videos. Search for the Knicks to browse content from their site as well as videos and news from ESPN or Bleacher Report."

Currently not all news sites are covered in the feature, but Google said that it will be making it available for more sites soon.
