This hasn’t gone down well with some who have called the move ‘degrading’, ‘sexist’, and ‘stereotypical’.

New Delhi: Coding is complex. So tech companies in China are reportedly adding a rather pretty benefit to their employee policy: personal cheerleaders.

These cheerleaders have been hired to motivate the programmers, take their meal orders, and help create a fun work environment.

A report on CBC says, dubbed ‘programming cheerleaders,’ these young women serve to chit-chat and play Ping-Pong with employees as part of their role.

Other duties include smiling and clapping for male employees who play guitar in the office.

An HR manager of an Internet company in China said that the presence of the young cheerleaders has significantly improved the job efficiency and motivation of the programmers.

However, this hasn’t gone down well with some who have given negative feedback on Trending in China’s Facebook post calling the move ‘degrading’, ‘sexist’, and ‘stereotypical’.

While some totally shunned the idea, other suggested an alternative move of simply hiring more female programmers.

What's your reaction?
