ChatGPT Launched 1 Year Back, Now Everyone Wants A Piece Of The AI Boom
ChatGPT has undoubtedly become a sensation in the past 12 months since its debut but not everything can be seen as a positive thing.

ChatGPT came out one year back and most of you might be thinking that the AI chatbot has been around for a longer time, after all, so much is being discussed about the technology these days. But, no, OpenAI introduced ChatGPT this time last year, and since then, we have seen the AI chatbot become wildly popular, evolve into more versions and even made its way to your smartphones.

But here’s the thing that is fascinating about ChatGPT, artificial intelligence (AI) has been around for years, in fact, decades, and somehow this AI chatbot has shown up to be the pioneer of the tech space of the future. Sam Altman started the day one of ChatGPT as the CEO of OpenAI, and after all the ups and downs, Altman finishes the year in his position. AI is definitely catching everyone’s imagination.

It could be related to the ability to create images, content and even a full letter with the help of AI, or put millions of jobs at risk, because AI is supposedly going to replace humans and deliver better at their jobs.

Among all this hype, you have traditional companies like Microsoft and Google showing their intent to build AI language models that can be as smart as us, or maybe in the future surpass humans. So, when you hear these things, most people would be terrified of a future where the machines (AI in this case) will have a greater say, but that hasn’t deterred tech giants from adopting their own AI strategies.

AI chatbots are built on the data that users have developed over the years. You started using ChatGPT by getting basic responses and helping you draft a letter or summarise an article.

Gradually, it got access to the internet, which meant OpenAI had to open the channels of AI to subscription, which is critical to keep the heavy computing systems running, and that’s where you have companies like Microsoft coming in and providing their vast set of expertise. That brings us to the recent episode of a manic 48-hour weekend, which stars Satya Nadella, CEO, Microsoft, Sam Altman, and the board members of OpenAI.

Things unfolded so quickly, but also made it obvious that a giant like Microsoft surely needed a better say in the board matter at OpenAI, especially when it has invested around $10 billion of its resources in the company. There was one point where Altman was made the chief of the AI research lab at Microsoft, rubber stamped by Nadella himself.

OpenAI had a replacement in their sleeves, in the form of former Twitch CEO, who didn’t last long at the AI company.

Altman was reportedly kicked out because of his overpowering nature to grow AI without adhering to the safety of the technology. But Altman’s hold on the people at the company was stronger than everybody on the board knew, and finally, he is back to continue with his work and build ChatGPT to newer heights in the coming future.
