Arc Search is an artificial intelligence (AI)- powered mobile browser which will finally come to Android, the company said recently. The browser quickly gained popularity thanks to AI-powered features like Browse for Me, which analyses several web pages to display relevant information, AI summarisation and more. In May this year, it got the Call Arc function, which allowed for two-way communication in which the user could voice pose a question and the AI would respond.
In response to a user’s post on Threads asking if an Android version of the app was in the works, Arc Search’s official Threads account stated that the Android app will be available shortly. This is the first time the app’s creator has officially announced that it is developing an Android app.
Arc Search: Know All About This AI-Powered Browser
The Browser Company made Arc Search available on the App Store in January 2024 after which Mac and Windows devices got the support.
The browser has various unique features, including a Browse for Me mode, in which the AI searches relevant web pages for information in an easy-to-read style after receiving a search query. It also includes AI summarisation, auto-archiving, ad blocking, private browsing mode, secure tabs and reading mode, among other things.
In addition, the firm has been continually adding new features to the app. Since its inception, the Arc Search browser has added a Shared Browse for Me mode and a Call Arc feature. The latter is a hands-free function that allows users to speak to the app while the AI responds with answers to questions.
Notably, Arc Search powers the AI features in the browser with the OpenAI API and various additional AI models. The company is yet to clarify whether or not there will be any Android-specific features but we should see that happen soon. It is also worth pointing out that the browser is not compatible with the Windows PCs running on ARM-based processors for now.
