Riding on the success of iPhone 7 sales and the fall of Samsung's 2016 flagship - the Galaxy Note 7, Apple's market share in the United States is soaring at 40.5 per cent. According to data released by Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, Apple's figures were up from 33.5 per cent share of smartphone sales during the same period in 2015.
Apple's success can be easily credited to the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 debacle, said the research firm.
With this, the tech giant has defied 'concerns' that doing away with the 3.5-mm headphone jack will hit its sales.
South Korean giant Samsung released the Galaxy Note 7 in August with hopes of competing against the iPhone 7 that was due to launch next month (September). However, the smartphone fell victim to manufacturing troubles that caused it to overheat and there were reports of the Note 7 exploding.
Samsung announced a recall but replacement devices also suffered the same fate, giving way to discontinuation of the device.
Kantar stated that iPhone 7 has been immensely popular as well. It added that Apple remains the most desirable smartphone brand worldwide.
