The highly anticipated Kannada film, Kaatera, starring Darshan in the lead role, saw its worldwide release on December 29, making an impactful entry into the box office. With the film receiving positive feedback, there are reports that it will now be dubbed into other languages, extending its reach beyond Karnataka. Recently, the movie had its grand release in Australia on January 4, with the USA release scheduled for the following day.
The news was shared through an Instagram post by Madhu Chakravarthy, providing details about the film’s screenings in Australia from January 4 to 7, all scheduled for 8.30 p.m. The move to release the film abroad reflects the growing popularity and global appeal of Kannada cinema.
Kaatera has already made headlines with its exceptional booking sales, breaking records by selling over 60,000 tickets before the official release date. The pre-booking sales surpassed Rs 1.4 crore, indicating the immense anticipation and interest among the audience. The film’s success is attributed to the directorial prowess of Tharun Sudhir and the backing of producer Rockline Venkatesh.
Starring Darshan, Aradhana Ram, and Jagapathi Babu in key roles, Kaatera is set against the agricultural backdrop of Hampi during the 1970s. The storyline delves into societal issues prevalent during that period. The supporting cast includes Vaijanath Biradar, Shruti, and Kumar Govind. Notably, ZEE5 and Zee Kannada have acquired the digital streaming and satellite rights for the film.
Before Kaatera, Darshan was seen in the sports drama Garadi, directed by Yogaraj Bhat and produced by Vanaja Patil. The film featured Sonal Monteiro, Sujay Belur, P. Ravishankar, Tejaswini Prakash, and others. Darshan made a special appearance in the movie.
The soundtrack for Kaatera was composed by V. Harikrishna, while Niranjan Babu and Suresh Urs handled the cinematography and editing, respectively. With the film gaining traction globally, Darshan and the team are celebrating the success of their cinematic venture.
