New Delhi: As heavy rains lashed most parts of the state on Saturday, the spirit of electioneering—ahead of the Assembly polls on February 21—was severely dampened.

Among those taking a hit due to the weather were BJP president Rajnath Singh, who had to change his plans of flying to Punjab in a helicopter.

Instead, Singh took a chartered plane from Jollygrant Airport in Dehradun and flew to Punjab, where Assembly polls are slated for February 13.

It wasn't just the BJP, top politicians of the Congress—Chief Minister N D Tiwari and Motilal Vora—also had to cancel the rallies at Tehri and other places in Garhwal following the rains.

MeT Director Anand Sharma says that the rains may continue for the next two days as well.
