Uttarakhand voted on February 15, 2017, to elect its Assembly. The term of the current legislative assembly is going to end on March 18, 2017. Traditionally, voters of Uttarakhand have voted either for Congress or the BJP ever since this state came into existence in the year 2000.

The Congress is currently in power in the state and BJP is the main opposition party. Apart from them, BSP and a number of independents and regional parties, are also trying their luck in the hill state.
