Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday told chief ministers of the states ruled by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to ensure the efforts of the Centre are not diluted. The two-day meet concluded in the national capital on Sunday afternoon.

PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Party President JP Nadda, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, along with 13 CMs of Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled states and five deputy CMs who are part of the government run by NDA, participated in the meeting. After the meeting, the convener of the PM-CM cell told the media that the focus of the discussion was governance, especially the implementation of the central government’s schemes.

While PM Modi lauded the efforts of several CMs who were running different schemes in their states, such as a CM who spoke about the recruitment drive for government jobs, or Uttar Pradesh’s focus on digitisation of gram panchayats, he said that giving people maximum benefits of the central schemes must be priority.

“In the meeting, the PM said that it was important to implement the central government’s schemes in various states in the same letter and spirit and not get diverted. He also said that people should not try to divert attention or dilute the efforts and therefore should not adulterate the intent with which the central government is trying to implement any scheme,” a source aware of the development told News18.

There was also a discussion on reaching the target of making India the world’s third largest economy and becoming a $5-trillion economy. “The party should not compromise on its culture, while keeping development as its focus,” PM Modi is said to have told his colleagues.

The meeting also saw a presentation by Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan on the national education policy and how all state governments need to work on war footing to ensure its implementation.

There was also a programme for all leaders present to listen to Mann Ki Baat by PM Modi.
