New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition that seeks to make Kerala Chief Minister Oomen Chandy an accused in the Palmolien oil case.

The allegations made against the Kerala Chied Minister were that in 1991 he was the finance minister and did not object to giving off illegal tenders in the plam oil export.

Earlier in October last year, the Kerala High Court dismissed a petition seeking to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to carry out further investigation into the deal, making it clear that there is no scope for a fresh investigation against Chandy.

The High Court also dismissed the request to monitor the case on a weekly basis, as is done by the Supreme Court in the 2G scam. The court held that there was no reason to interfere in the case as requested in the petition.
