New Delhi: In an attempt that was meant to cut down Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to size, the BJP dropped him from the Central Parliamentary Board.
And now the party is in for some damage control and is seeking to downplay reports that the Chief Minister is livid at having his wings clipped.
According to a report in PTI, Modi appeared ver "business-like" when announcing his election campaign programme in Punjab and Uttarakhand.
However, the party says that he is not upset. In fact, party Vice-President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi was quoted by PTI as saying "Modi is happy. Everybody is happy."
Party sources said the BJP chief, who had warned in December in Lucknow that humility and discipline were the basic requirements to have positions in the party, sees no reason for anybody in the organisation to complain over the new national executive and the team of office-bearers .
"In Gujarat, for instance, all of Modi's wishes were honoured over who should lead the state unit. In Punjab, not a single ticket was finalised against the wishes of Jaitley. The removal of Harjit Singh Grewal as party secretary is another example. Therefore, the party chief does not believe anybody in the party can complain over the formation of the new team," a party source was quoted by PTI as saying.
