Sonebhadra: Alleging the Mayawati-led government in Uttar Pradesh to be "neck-deep" in corruption, Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh on Monday said all those responsible for it would be sent to jail if the party came to power in the state.
"Mayawati government is neck deep in corruption... on coming to power, Congress would take an account from her and her associates in this connection and cases would be lodged against them and culprits would be sent to jail," Singh, who was here to take part in a programme, said.
"The real place for those who are corrupt is jail," he said.
Singh also alleged corruption in MNREGA in the district and demanded suspension of officials behind it by July 27 or else "the district magistrate's office would be gheraod".
On the issue of price rise, he said that state governments can take steps on their part to provide relief to the common man.
