Five officials have been placed under suspension in Haryana a day after the Aam Aadmi Party alleged that its application seeking permission for two poll programmes were denied with abusive language in the reply.
Condemning the alleged incident in Kaithal, the Chief Electoral Officer of Haryana said: “The incident regarding Kaithal… is extremely condemnable and has been treated most strictly by the ECI. In this matter, an FIR has already been registered, investigation are being conducted by the cyber cell, Kaithal…. DGP, Haryana has been requested to ensure that investigations are competed as soon as possible. Meanwhile 5 officials have been placed under suspension.”

The Deputy Commissioner of Kaithal in a post on X acknowledged the incident, saying the user ID of Assistant Returning Officer Kaithal, Parliamentary Constituency Kurukshetra, was misused by unknown persons to access the ENCORE portal, and make the derogatory changes.
“Action, including suspension of 5 persons suspected to be involved in the incident and registration of FIR No. 0012 dated 5.4.2024 at Cyber Crime Police Station, Kaithal, has been taken. Besides this an enquiry is under way to ascertain further details,” the Deputy Commissioner added.
An incident was reported on 4th April 2024 wherein the user ID of Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) Kaithal, Parliamentary Constituency (PC) Kurukshetra, was misused by hitherto unknown person/s to access the ENCORE portal, and make derogatory posts therein. The 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana will go to polls in the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections on May 25. The counting of votes will be held on June 4.
