On behalf of the Trinamool Congress and 'Ma Mati Manush' (Mother, Earth, People) I want to express my gratitude and respect. The counting of votes isn't over yet and I know the entire nation, people of West Bengal and the members of the national and international press are waiting for the results.
The lakhs of people who are watching television today and waiting for me to speak, we couldn't have won without their support. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh called from Afghanistan prime to congratulate the people of Bengal on this victory. Congress President Sonia Gandhi also called to congratulate the people of West Bengal.
I entirely believe that this is a victory of democracy. This is a victory of 'Ma, Mati, Manush'. This is a victory against years of oppression, exploitation and extortion. This is a victory of helpless people, of the hills, forests, and my 'Ma Mati Manush'.
Every single person, including from the minorities, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, the adivasis, the OBCs and the ordinary people has supported us in this election. This historic verdict has been possible all because of these people.
If people are not with us, democracy cannot ever win. I believe people have tasted new found freedom in Bengal after 35 years. This has been a freedom struggle of sorts for us. After this victory I appeal to everyone to stay calm and cooperate with the Election Commission and state administration.
I appeal to people to dedicate this victory to poets Rabindranath Tagore and Nazrul (Islam), especially since we are celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Tagore this year. Please maintain peace and do not fall prey to instigation. We dedicate this win to people. We will usher in good governance in Bengal. We, along with all minorities, SCs, STs, adivasis, people of all castes and religion, will establish democracy. Saare se jahan se achha hindustan humara.... We will work unitedly.
I feel this is time when we need to be patient. And today I dedicate this victory to Bengal's mothers, sisters and people and I say ...antar momo bikoshito koro, koro antaro taro he. We say...jokhon bela shesher chhayaye, pakhira jaye apon kulaye majhe shondha pujar ghonta jokhon baaje
To my co-workers, I appeal, let the people come forward. Please let others come forward, please vacate this place. People who have gathered here since morning, please go home, rest and take a bath.
