New Delhi: The sealing issue would not seal Congress' fate in the upcoming civic polls, says AICC General Secretary Ashok Gehlot.

Dismissing the Opposition's claim that Congress will pay for the sealing controversy, Gehlot said, “By the time the elections are held in the Capital, people will realise that the Congress has taken several steps to save their livelihoods. The fact that the Master Plan was introduced at the earliest reflects our concern for them.”

Regarding BJP's decision to raise the issue of spiraling prices in the Capital, Gehlot asked, "How can the MCD be held responsible for issues like rising prices?"

Unlike BJP, which has decided to rope in senior party leaders such as Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj and Shatrughan Sinha to campaign for its candidates, Congress is yet to decide on the names of its candidates.

"Political leaders who are based in Delhi will campaign for our candidates," said Gehlot.

Denying any rift within the party on the issue of distribution of tickets, he said efforts have been taken to give representation to all communities.

"The party has received 11,000 applications seeking tickets. We have opted for young and corruption-free faces in the coming civic elections in the Capital," he said.

Even after filing of nomination papers by the candidates, high drama continued at the party's office with disgruntled ticket aspirants and their supporters shouting slogans against Delhi Congress chief Rambabu Sharma.
