BJP accuses Digvijay of trying to divert attention from his Hemant Karkare faux pas.

New Delhi: In a strong reaction to Congress leader Digvijay Singh's comments on Hindu terror, BJP on Saturday said he was trying to divert attention from his faux pas on Hemant Karkare's death and making controversial comments to make a place for himself in the party.

"Singh is now trying to divert attention of the country from himself as he created the controversy about Karkare and said he would prove it. Now that he has failed to give any proof, he is using diversionery tactics," BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman told PTI.

She alleged that Congress claims to be a secular party but still talks about terror having a "certain slant or colour".

"We have been saying that terror has no colour, no religion and action should be taken against whoever is guilty," she said.

Singh had alleged that Sunil Joshi, an RSS activist, was killed by the Sangh Parivar as he knew too much about their involvement in terrorist activities.

BJP vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi also joined issue with Digvijay Singh, saying he talks as if he is a witness to every terror act and seems to have been

authorised by the Congress to divert attention from main issues plaguing the ruling party.

"Singh seems to have premonition of every terror act and seems to be a witness to every such act. The Congress has given him the supari (contract) and authorised him for diverting attention from the main issues", Naqvi told PTI.

In a lighter vein, Naqvi suggested that the securityagencies should question Singh to find out why despite knowing so much about these terror acts he does not inform them about these.

"Congress seems to believe that by repeatedly talking about a falsehood, somewhere it will become the truth. Even in the Samjhauta Express blast a Pakistani national has been named as the main accused but Digvijay Singh keeps giving new names and brandishes this as Hindu terror," Sitharaman said.

She alleged that Singh was "continuously indulging in perpetrating falsehood and tarnishing those who sacrificed their lives."

BJP further maintained that after the recent defeat in Bihar, Congress should introspect as to how it can indulge in constructive politics as its politics of "appeasement and votebank" has been clearly and summarily rejected by the

people of Bihar.

Sitharaman insisted that since Singh has been cornered in his party, he is trying to create controversies to be in the limelight but this is not going to help him.
