Raipur: Union Minister Maneka Gandhi will visit Chhattisgarh on Thursday to inaugurate the newly-constructed 'One-Stop Centre' - that is being touted as the first of its kind in the country - for women who are victims of violence.

Gandhi, who holds the charge for Women and Child Welfare department along with state Chief Minister Raman Singh would launch the Centre in Raipur at the district hospital premises on Thursday afternoon.

The 'One-Stop Centre' built at a cost of Rs 37.67 lakh has a five-bed hospital which will cater to the women's physical and psychological well-being, state Women and Child Development Minister Ramsheela Sahu told reporters in Raipur on Wednesday.

The victims can seek help by directly walking in or by calling a toll free number.

Victims of rape, dowry harassment and domestic violence will get medical aid, legal advice, psychological counselling and also help in filing FIRs, she said.

The Union government is keen on establishing Nirbhaya Centres all over the country.

As a part of the programme the Union Government had sanctioned 'One-Stop Centres' in 20 cities and Raipur Centre is the first of its kind in the country, Sahu said.

Later Gandhi will participate in the Women Conference at the Indoor Stadium in Budhatalab area. During her daylong visit, she will also visit Aganwadi Centre at Nawagaon village to take stock of its functioning and activities being done under these centres, the minister added.
