The Bharatiya Janata Party is not ready to let Congress-led UPA breathe easy after CNN-IBN's expose showing that the PMO flouted rules and appointed CBI Additional Director as per its choice.
The BJP raised the issue during parliamentary party meeting on Tuesday morning just hours before the commencement of Parliament.
BJP has said that it will raise the issue in Parliament too if time permitted.
It alleged that the government was trying to flout norms with impunity and that it was hell bent on destroying constitutional institutions.
The PMO has allegedly violated the procedures to appoint an additional director of its choice to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). As per rules the additional director's name must be cleared by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC).
Sources tell CNN-IBN that the CVC will write to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh that it does not recognise the appointment of Archana Ramasundram as the CBI's Additional Director.
According to sources the CVC never recommended her name for the post. Instead it had proposed the name of an IPS officer from West Bengal cadre RK Pachnanda to the post. It has even refused to go back to the CVC.
