BJP promises Ram Rajya if voted to power in UP

Lucknow: Promising to change the "face and destiny" of Uttar Pradesh by ushering in "Ram Rajya", BJP on Saturday announced that if voted to power it would establish fast track courts to deal with crimes committed under BSP rule, end anti-farmer land acquisitions and improve the law and order problems of the state.

BJP passed a resolution on the political, social and economic situation in Uttar Pradesh and enumerated its plans for the state which is scheduled to go to polls early next year.

The resolution states that Uttar Pradesh has become a "synonym for bad governance, mismanagement, corruption, goondaraj, mafiaraj and casteism" under Mayawati's chief ministership.

The party has resolved to fight all three political adversaries the BSP, Samajwadi Party and Congress in the forthcoming Assembly elections.

The resolution deals with several current issues dominating the political landscape of the state, including acquisition of land from farmers, development of the long neglected Bundelkhand region, power situation, roads and drinking water problems.

The BJP resolution stated that the Mayawati government is "fond of" using batons and bullets against those agitating for the land, be it in Tappal, Karchana or Katesar (Chandauli).

The party is aiming at winning votes of farmers to increase its vote-bank which is mainly confined to the urban areas.

Incidentally, the BJP has insisted in its resolution that even the dalits are not safe in Uttar Pradesh despite having a chief minister belonging to the community.

"The cases of atrocities, specially against dalits and Most backward has increased under Mayawati's regime," the resolution said.

It quotes a UP Scheduled Caste Commission report to argue that there has been an increase of 30 per cent in such crimes.

BJP's Hindutva issues of a Ram temple at Ayodhya and cow slaughter also figure in the resolution. "BJP will make efforts at all levels for building of a grand Ram temple at his birthplace," the resolution said.

It states that despite a complete ban on cow slaughter, it is being done blatantly and this has also affected milk production.

The resolution also lists the achievements of BJPgovernments in states like Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh and Bihar to state that the party is known for its good governance.

"Our aim is to replace goondaraj and jungleraj (rule of lawlessness) with Ram Rajya (ideal state)," the party said. A 22-member strong team led by former Assembly Speaker Kesari Nath Tripathi has been formed to prepare a vision document for the politically crucial state, which sends 80 MPs to Parliament.
