Lucknow: A few days ahead of the election notification in the state, the Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh announced new development projects worth over Rs 60,000 crore on Tuesday.
Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav is on an inauguration and foundation stone laying spree on Tuesday. Sources told CNN News18 that he might inaugurate nearly 900 projects in one day.
These projects range from Olympic-sized swimming pool to schemes related to mandi parishad.
The state government is going all out before the code of conduct set by the Election Commission comes into force. The state is set to go to elections next year. Sources in the EC told CNN News18 that they are likely to tack place in February.
“We don’t need to tell people what we have done. It is there for people to see. And then there are people who conduct surgical strikes every two weeks," Yadav told the media.
