Ajit Singh’s party moves to cut itself off Mulayam Singh Yadav, who insists his government is safe.

Lucknow: Two more Rastriya Lok Dal (RLD) leaders who had the status of ministers on Thursday resigned from the Uttar Pradesh government.

Ram Asrey Verma, Chairperson of UP Export Commission, and Tejpal Singh, chief of the Labour Welfare Council, sent their resignations to Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav. Verma is the president of RLD in UP.

Four RLD ministers, Anuradha Chowhdury, Swami Omvesh, Virendra Singh and Kokab Hameed, resigned from the government on January 9.

After the resignations, party chief Ajit Singh had said that the government had failed help sugarcane farmers and there was lawlessness in the state.

Opposition parties want UP, which goes to polls in April, to be put under president’s rule and claim the state government has failed to maintain rule of law.
