Check out the fixture lists for this season of the ISL below.

The next four months will be filled with action as the Indian footballing journey continues for the 10th season.

The tournament will not be a closed competition as it once was. The season will have added incentive for sides not to be relegated to the I-League. The promotion of Punjab into the ISL will mean that one side will go down the league which finishes last in this campaign.

This will make the bottom tier of the league more interesting as well as we have seen in the other top leagues. Teams can change their fate if they escape relegation. In England, it was not too long ago a side like Newcastle Aston Villa or even Brighton was amongst the bottom tier in the Premier League but with adequate investment, quality scouting and good managers it is possible to compete with the top clubs who have a massive advantage in terms of investment in the club.

Looking at the league’s history, it is NorthEast United FC who have finished last the most. Finishing bottom in three instances odds are likely that they could be the ones relegated but we are yet to see if the likes of Punjab FC have what it takes to compete with the sides from the ISL.

It will definitely be interesting to see the fight to stay in the ISL at the bottom and see who would eventually get relegated and who is set to come up from the I-League as well.
