Elizabeth Debicki received well-deserved recognition at the Golden Globes for her outstanding portrayal of Princess Diana in The Crown. During her emotional acceptance speech, she dedicated the win to her late godmother and expressed gratitude to her on-screen ‘pretend children,’ portrayed by Ed McVey, Rufus Kampa, Luther Ford, and Flyn Edward, who played the younger and older versions of Prince William and Prince Harry.
Elizabeth Debicki graced the red carpet in a stunning “antique silver” Dior couture gown. The exquisite choice of attire not only showcased her impeccable sense of style but also harmonized flawlessly with her complexion, enhancing her overall elegance. To complement the sophisticated gown, she adorned herself with Christian Dior accessories— a dazzling diamond necklace and a bracelet. The careful selection of her overall outfit showcased not just fashion but a deliberate effort to create a memorable and refined appearance for the prestigious occasion. Debicki went for a “no-makeup makeup” look.

Elizabeth Debicki clinched the prestigious award in a fiercely contested category that included notable contenders such as Abby Elliott (The Bear), Christina Ricci (Yellowjackets), J. Smith-Cameron (Succession), Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso), and the seasoned Hollywood veteran Meryl Streep (Only Murders in the Building). This marked Debicki’s inaugural triumph at the Golden Globes.
In her heartfelt acceptance speech, the Australian actress expressed her gratitude, stating, “Thank you so much to the creators of this show for trusting me with this role, to our dedicated cast and crew, and to my wonderful pretend children whom I adore. A special thanks to my mom and dad, currently in Australia, hopefully watching this in their pajamas, and to my partner Christian, who insisted I don’t thank him on television, but I’m going to thank you anyway. This is truly astonishing to me. I want to dedicate this to my beloved and dear godmother who left us too quickly; this one’s for you.”
Elizabeth Debicki emerged victorious in the category of Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television. Her exceptional portrayal of Princess Diana spanning Seasons 5 and 6 of The Crown explored the late Princess’s last weeks leading up to the tragic accident in August 1997 that took her life. The series itself received four nominations at the recent Golden Globes ceremony, showcasing the widespread acclaim for its compelling storytelling and remarkable performances.
Earlier, talking about the weight of playing Diana in the Netflix series, the actress told People, “I did a lot of research for this role. I probably spent about a year doing research and that just filled in all these pieces and made me have such deep, deep respect and love for this person who I didn’t know so much about. The battle that she went through in terms of media, public perception. I didn’t know things about the divorce and how difficult all of that was for everybody in the family.”
Interestingly, Elizabeth Debicki was previously nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series (Drama) at the previous year’s Golden Globes. Her stellar performance also places her in the category for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series at the upcoming Emmy Awards.
