He is frequently seen sporting kurtas over other garments, proving his preference for comfort It was not surprising, therefore, when he entrusted Kolkata’s renowned fashion designer, Abhisek Roy, to design classic traditional Bengali styles for him, this Diwali, in a bid to explore his mother’s side of aesthetics.
Speaking exclusively to us, Abhisek, all praise for Saif, said, “Saif sir’s idea from the beginning was very clear. He wanted something old world in classic Bengali styles with minimal detailing on it. He has watched old Bengali movies and had a clear idea of the kind of style he wanted to explore. He told me he wanted to explore his mothers side of aesthetics, giving it a classic old world charm.”
Abhishek Roy’s design aesthetics are quite similar to that of Saif’s ideas. Said the designer, “I’ve always had an affinity towards vintage Bengali Styles. All the very first day of trial, he was very happy with whatever I have made for him. I made something simple but with a touch of royalty for him for Diwali.”
