In a move to accommodate the surging demand, the Indian Railways has taken a significant step to enhance the capacity of two Ganpati special trains traversing the picturesque Konkan route.
Commencing from September 20, the 01167/68 LTT-Kudal Express, originally comprising 22 coaches, will now proudly roll with an expanded fleet of 24 coaches, incorporating additional sleeper and general carriages, confirmed an official source.
Similarly, the 01165/66 LTT-Mangalore Express, renowned for its scenic journey, will also see a boost in its capacity as it grows from 22 coaches to 24 coaches, effective September 22. This strategic decision has been prompted by the tremendous surge in commuter numbers during this festive season.
Central Railway’s Chief Spokesperson, Shivraj Manaspure, emphasized, “We are increasing the number of coaches as there is a huge rush of commuters this festive season.” The move is aimed at ensuring a comfortable and hassle-free travel experience for passengers celebrating Ganpati festivities.
Recently, Indian Railways has issued a crucial directive to all its zones. This has been done to ensure hassle-free journey of Members of Parliament(MPs) as they head to the national capital for a special parliamentary session.
The directive, coming at a pivotal moment, underscores the importance of maintaining punctuality for all mail and Express trains operating across the extensive railway network.
The Railway Board (RB) has sent out an email to all zonal headquarters, emphasizing the need to uphold stringent timekeeping standards. To achieve this, the RB has mandated the deployment of officers at major terminals for round-the-clock monitoring, with a sole focus on punctuality.
