Actor Mrunal Thakur is revelling in the success of her latest film Hi Nanna and preparing for her upcoming film Pooja Meri Jaan. In recent years, the 31-year-old actor has established herself as a major force in Hindi and Southern cinema, thanks to films like Sita Ramam and Super 30. Recently, in an interview, Mrunal Thakur shared that she thinks about actor Shah Rukh Khan when she gets referred to as the ‘Queen of Romance’.
Expressing how she felt when a fan wrote to her and called her ‘Queen of Romance’, Mrunal said, “I was very overwhelmed because there is only one King Of Romance, that’s Shah Rukh sir. I said it in my previous interview as well. So that was a nice compliment,” as quoted by Pinkvilla.
Mrunal Thakur has time and again expressed her appreciation for Shah Rukh Khan. Last November, in an exclusive conversation with News18, she said that he is a ‘hopeless romantic’ thanks to the effortless charm of Shah Rukh Khan. “A lot of my friends who are big fans of Shah Rukh sir say that he has set the benchmark really high, and I completely agree with them. If anybody tries to do something romantic for us which isn’t up to the mark that Shah Rukh sir has set, we go, ‘Whatever! You either do it his way or you don’t do it at all,'” she said.
She added, “The definition of romance, for me, is Shah Rukh Khan and the ideal couple should be similar to those I’ve watched in his movies. When I was his movies, I wonder if love really does happen that way and if anyone will love me the way his characters love their love interests.”
Mrunal Thakur, who is yet to work on a film with Shah Rukh Khan, recalled her first meeting with King Khan at the screening of Toofaan in 2021. Recalling that moment she said, “We were lucky enough to show him the film before it released. It was lovely to spend time with and know more about him. But I was speechless. I remember taking a selfie with him where I had moist eyes. I’m a very emotional person but I was just trying to control my emotions.”
Mrunal Thakur first made her Hindi film debut with Love Sonia (2018). Her big break came with the Telugu romantic drama Sita Ramam (2022), which won her two SIIMAs. She will next be seen in the Hindi film Pooja Meri Jaan, alongside Huma Qureshi. She will also be a part of the Telugu film Family Star alongside Vijay Deverakonda.
