In the words of Karan Johar: “Oh God, one more remix?” Yup, there is another remix that is going to hit the town and fans are having mixed feelings about it. Sony Music India has announced that they will be launching a remix of Tujhe Yaad Na Meri Aayee, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’s iconic song, on the occasion of the film’s 25th anniversary. On October 16, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai will complete 25 years. The film, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji, also marked Karan Johar’s directorial debut.
On Tuesday night, the music label took to Instagram and shared a poster of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai along with the announcement that Tujhe Yaad Na Meri Aayee remix will drop soon. Karan also shared the news on his Instagram Stories and called the song a ‘Version 2.0.’
It has been revealed that the remix version will be sung by B Praak and Jaani. Praak shared the post with the caption, “They say “If you dream with all your heart , the dream starts manifesting and they do come true I am thrilled to announce that I got the HONOUR to sing for one and only @iamsrk , sir And @kajol #ranimukherjee i hope you like Our efforts My only dream to sing and recreate this magical song in our style❤️.”
He also revealed that he had requested Karan to remix the track. “Thank you @karanjohar for accepting my request And Trusting us That We Can Do Justice To Your Magical Song!!!The Best No 1 lyricist @jaani777 You Killed It❤️And Biggest Thanks To @azeemdayani For Always Supporting Our Efforts❤️❤️,” he wrote, hinting that there will be a few changes to the song.
The announcement has received with all kinds of reactions. A section of the internet is looking forward to the track. “Nothing can beat the original, but B Praak’s voice for tujhe yaad will be something to look forward to,” a fan said. “Tujhe yaad has been my favorite since childhood, excited for this,” added another. “Can’t wait!!! B Praak let’s go!!!!,” a third wrote. “This is gonna bring back so many memories!❤️,” a fourth user said.
There is also a section of the social media that is unhappy with the remix. Many took to Reddit and expressed their disappointment over the news. “Nooooooo, don’t destroy it please do something new on ur own wisdom n idea,” a social media user wrote. “No please don’t ruin it,” added another. “We did not need this!!” A third user said, “No one wants this.” A fourth user wrote, “Me after reading this : Dil roya ki akh bhar aayee… kisise ab kya kehenaa .”
Tujhe Yaad Na Meri Aayee was originally sung by Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik and Manpreet Akhtar. The song continues to be one of the most popular heartbreak songs.
