Akshay Kumar Says OMG 2 Is Not An Adult Movie: 'Has Anyone Dared to Make A Film on Masturbation?'
Akshay Kumar's OMG 2 was finally released in theatres on August 11 after 27 cuts from the Censor Board of Film Certification.

Over a month after OMG 2’s release, Akshay Kumar has now said that the film was made for children but they could not see it since it has been granted an ‘adult only’ certificate by the censor board. “I made that film (OMG 2) for children. It is a film to be shown to children. Unfortunately, it cannot be shown because it was given an adult film certificate and there is nothing adult in it,” Akshay told ANI.

He shared that the OTT version of the film is no different from the one which was released in theatres. “It has the same cuts that were in the theatre. I could have done that (shown the uncensored version) but I wanted to respect the censor board and I delivered what the censor board passed,” he said.

Akshay mentioned that he can easily make movies like Rowdy Rathore or Singh Is King to gain commercial success but it is movies like Padman or OMG 2 which send out a social message. “It is my way of giving back to my society. I know if I do one Singh is Kinng, or Sooryavanshi, or Rowdy Rathore, I will make 3-4 times more,” he said.

Akshay continued, “It’s not about money. I know the business isn’t even that much but it’s not about the business.”

The actor then asked, “Has anyone dared to make a film about masturbation and sex education? You tell me if anyone has made any film on this, either here or in Hollywood.”

Akshay also revealed that OMG 2 is based on a real-life story and said, “The incident shown in OMG 2 actually happened. The child was caught in school and was removed.”

OMG 2 was finally released in theatres on August 11 after 27 cuts from the Censor Board of Film Certification. Just a few days back too, Akshay reacted to his film getting an ‘adult only’ certificate. He mentioned that he does not have any idea about the rules and therefore he did not intend to fight when OMG 2 was asked for 27 cuts.

“I don’t want to fight. I have no idea about the rules. I didn’t get into the rulebook. If they thought it was an adult film, then… did you all feel it is an adult film? Whoever we have shown the film to, they loved it. I made it for youngsters and I’m happy it is coming on Netflix and I’m happy about it. That’s it. The important thing is that people should know about it,” Akshay said during a group interview as quoted by India Today.
