Taylor Swift’s 11th studio album Tortured Poets Department was dropped by the singer on April 19. The masses are speculating that the album, featuring 16 tracks, is heavily based on the Grammy winner’s past romantic relationships. Taylor Swift’s long dating history is no secret to fans. With the release of the Tortured Poets Department, the singing sensation has once again grabbed the limelight in reference to her previous partners. In fact, on the heels of TPD’s release, the official Instagram handle of The Academy shared a fun clip from the 2010 movie Valentine’s Day starring Taylor Swift and her then-boyfriend and actor Taylor Lautner.
The video came with a caption that reads, “Flashback Friday to Taylor Squared (Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner in 2010’s ‘Valentine’s Day’). This is “So High School” coded. The film still opens with an interviewer asking a young Taylor Swift how she met Taylor Lautner. Calling it a “funny” incident, she revealed, “I was not into him at first. He used to shoot spit wads at me in Spanish class, which is like so junior high. But then one night I was brushing out my hair when I got home and I found this spit wad but it was really a note and it said, ‘What’s up?’ and I was like that is so cute. And then I liked him.”
Soon the scene shifts to Taylor Lautner doing a fence-jumping sports activity, looking at Taylor Swift admiringly. However, he trips over one and falls on the ground. Swift comes to his support, asking him to “walk it off” and assuring him that he is “still hot”. The singer also showcased some of her dance moves, before Lautner scooped her in his arms guessing that she might have probably shared the spit wad story with the interviewer. “She’s mushy like that,” he says before the two kiss.
Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner met each other for the first time in 2009 on the sets of Valentine’s Day. She was 19 and he was 17. In fact, Taylor Swift’s 2010 song Back To December is rumoured to be inspired by her breakup with Lautner. After going out on a few dates the duo called it quits in December 2009. According to sources, their relationship “was just not going anywhere”. However, the two remained good friends afterward.
