When Tamannaah Bhatia recently turned Radha for designer Karan Torani’s campaign, she left a large section of netizens disappointed. The actress faced backlash with many asking her and the designer to ‘stop sexualising’ Radha – a Hindu goddess and the chief consort of the god Krishna. Days after, Tamannaah and Torani have deleted the photoshoot from their respective Instagram handles.
It all started after Tamannaah turned Radha for Torani’s latest digital campaign, Leela: The Illusion Of Love. In the photos that were shared online, the actress dazzled in a stunning orange saree that beautifully encapsulated the essence of festive charm.
Sharing her experience of working on the campaign, Tamannaah wrote on her Instagram handle, “There were times when I felt a transcendent connection while embodying Radha, and a divine force seemed to be behind it all. This divinity is evident in the campaign’s visuals, thanks to the person behind it all @karantorani. He is truly a creative genius and one of the most talented young designers I’ve had the privilege to work with.”
However, soon after the pictures were shared, netizens expressed disappointment. An Instagram campaign was also launched which urged the actress not to sexualise Radha. “Stop sexualising the purest relationship of our beloved Radha Rani and Shree Krishna for your sales! You morons! How dare you @tamannaahspeaks & @toraniofficial,” one of the users wrote along with the online campaign template.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Tamannaah Bhatia recently appeared in the Stree 2 song ‘Aaj Ki Raat’ and impressed everyone. For the song, she donned a stunning green outfit and left the viewers swooning for her dance moves.
Previously, in an interview, the actress talked about the love her song is getting and shared, “It was shot in the freezing temperature of 5 degrees. It was challenging, but it was so much fun to be on the set. What makes this song special is the fact that I shot it on my birthday. I think the biggest gift an actor can have is a working birthday, and celebrating it with the warm team of Stree 2 was just the cherry on top. I’m overwhelmed with how the song is being received by the audience. Now, wishing the film also shatters all the box office records.”
