Taapsee Pannu Calls Out Trolling of Women for Wearing Bikinis: 'It doesn't Happen When Men Post Half-naked Pics'

Actress Taapsee Pannu has been a fearless advocate of feminism throughout her career. Be it her on-screen presence or the messages that she sends on her social media platform, the 33-year-old actress makes sure that she voices her opinion.

And in a recent interaction with the Times of India the actress has once again spoken about how women run the risk of getting trolled when they post pictures in bikini. On Saturday, the leading daily had put out a question to Indian celebrities where they asked if there is a bikini double standard in a society where trolls castigate actresses from television more than those from Bollywood.

Besides actors like Rubina Dilaik, Juhi Parmar, and Nidhi Agerwal who spoke up on the topic, actress Taapsee Pannu also put out her thoughts. The actress commented that as far as her observation goes, she has seen women, in general, being abused when they put out their pictures in a bikini but the same does not happen to men when they put out their half-naked pictures from the gym or beach.

Back in 2017, the actress was herself trolled online after she posted a picture in a bikini on the sets of Judwaa 2. The actress had shared a picture on her social media in a gorgeous floral sea blue bikini.

Captioning the picture, she wrote, “‘When you are against the tide, it’s YOU who needs to stand up for yourself……But don’t forget the smile.’ #Judwaa2 #AaTohSahi.” However, the reaction to the post was not as charming. A few trolls blamed her for making dirty movies and uploading ‘obscene’ pictures, which in turn promoted vulgarity.

Reacting to her tweet, a person had commented in 2017, “In our country, we have freedom of expression, so why don’t you remove the remaining clothes also. Your brother must be feeling proud of you after watching this.” Taapsee gave a fitting reply to the user, writing, “Sorry, Bhai hai nahi varna pakka puch ke bataati. Abhi ke liye behen ka answer chalega (Sorry I don’t have a brother, otherwise I would’ve asked him and told you. But for now, will my sister’s reply work)?”
