Ace director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has once again spread his magic with his OTT debut series, Heeramandi. The web series has been garnering much attention and has become the talk of the town. From creating stunning visuals and using extraordinary jewellery and outfits to tie the look of the actresses together, the director went to extra lengths to showcase his art. Now, actress Jayati Bhatia – who was seen in the role of Phatto in the period drama – has opened up about a different side to the director which will leave you surprised.
Many actors have credited Sanjay Leela Bhansali for bringing out their best selves on the camera. Known for his grandeur settings and attention to detail, Jayati Bhatia opened up about her opportunity to be able to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. She revealed that he gave Rs 500 as a token of appreciation to the actors when they gave an excellent shot. She talked about her own experience. In an interview with a news portal, Jayati Bhatia shared, “When he finds the shot to be excellent, he won’t say okay. He would either say ‘Jeeyo Phatto’ or he would say ‘500 rupay’.” Reportedly, Jayati Bhatia received Rs 500 thrice, earning a total of Rs 1,500 from the director. She has also framed the notes given by him to keep it safe as it is “very important to her.”
Previously, actor Indresh Malik – who portrayed the role of Ustaadji on the show – shared his experience with the director as well. He revealed that in his nath-scene with Sonakshi Sinha’s Fareedan character, Sanjay Leela Bhansali was so impressed that he awarded the actor with Rs 500 and said, “Dekho, rota jaa raha hai, itna achaa toh kiya (Why are you crying, you did so well)’. He hugged the actor and gave him the cash as a token of appreciation.
Heeramandi features Aditi Rai Hydari, Richa Chadha, Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Sharmin Segal, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Taha Shah Badusha, Farida Jalal, Shekhar Suman and Adhyayan Suman in pivotal roles. The show was released on May 1 and is streaming on Netflix.
