Ram Charan fans seem to be losing patience while waiting for updates on their favourite star’s upcoming film Game Changer. Since Tuesday, hashtags like ‘irresponsible director Shankar’ and ‘reckless filmmaker Shankar’ have been trending on the X platform. Fans, frustrated not only by the absence of movie updates but also by the lack of a release date, have taken to Twitter to express their dissatisfaction with the director.
The majority of the tweets display derogatory content and feature violent imagery extracted from movies like KGF, Salaar or RRR, alongside the hashtag “‘Wake Up Shankar’. Additionally, fans have edited the director’s face onto scenes depicting villains being assaulted in films. This behaviour isn’t new, as the film has been in development for three years. Previously, fans similarly targeted producer Dil Raju.

S Shankar and Ram Charan announced Game Changer in February 2021. The story was penned by Karthik Subbaraj, with Shankar handling the screenplay and Sai Madhav Burra writing the dialogues. Kiara Advani joined the cast in July of the same year, along with Anjali, Sunil, SJ Suryah, Naveen Chandra, Jayaram, and other actors in significant roles. Production officially commenced in October 2021.
Director Shankar has been managing the shooting of Game Changer alongside Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2. When Dil Raju was questioned about the release date in December 2023 during a press conference, he stated, “Directors like SS Rajamouli, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, and Shankar tend to take longer to shoot films because they are relentless in their pursuit of perfection. I am aware of the immense dedication they all put into their work. Shankar’s goal is to wrap up filming for this movie before Ram begins shooting for his next project. The actual release date will only be determined once the film enters the post-production phase.”
Another shooting schedule for Game Changer is to be done in February. The film revolves around the theme of electoral reforms, with Ram portraying the role of an IAS officer. Thaman S is handling the music composition for the film. Following Game Changer, Ram will proceed to shoot for an untitled film with director Buchi Babu Sana, known for his work on Uppena.
