The iconic pop band Imagine Dragons is ready to light up the stage with their electric performance at the closing ceremony of Indian Premiere League (IPL) 2024. The final match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is scheduled to take place at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on May 26. Before the Shreyas Iyer-led side Kolkata Knight Riders locks horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad, the audience will be treated to a musical display of hits by Imagine Dragons, ranging from Thunder to Believer and Bones. The band’s lead vocalist Dan Reynolds confirmed his presence at the much-anticipated match on the stipulated date.
In a video dropped by Star Sports on X (formerly Twitter), Dan Reynolds can be heard revealing, “This is the stage where we come alive. The moment is here.” The singing sensation turned out to be a Virat Kohli fan. Heaping praise on the former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain, Reynolds labelled King Kohli as The GOAT. “Virat the GOAT, he’s the God of all fans,” he said. “Visiting India was the highlight of my entire career,” acknowledged Reynolds.

The clip featured glimpses of some IPL players including Virat Kohli, Sunil Narine, Pat Cummins, Andre Russell, Heinrich Klaasen, Dinesh Karthik and more. Some winning moments of RCB featured in the visual representation. There were also sneak peeks of the frenzied crowd cheering for their favourite team, holding banners and placards. The video concluded with a brief appearance of Imagine Dragons’ lead guitarist Wayne Sermon. The performance is set to begin from 6 pm onwards.

Last year, Imagine Dragons put up a powerful performance at the inaugural ceremony of the Lollapalooza Music Festival In India. The glittery event was held at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse in Mumbai on January 28 and 29. While interacting with the crowd on the stage, Dan Reynolds expressed his love for the people in the country and their “amazing” food, reported Hindustan Times.
