Malaika Arora on Her Personal Life: 'I Don’t Owe Anybody An Explanation'
Despite facing criticism and trolling for her choices and personal life, Malaika Arora remains unfazed.

Malaika Arora is known for her iconic roles, stylish appearances, and judging reality shows. She believes that style reflects who you are. Despite facing criticism and trolling for her choices and personal life, Malaika remains unfazed. In an interview with HT, she said that trolling has been part of her journey, and she has learned to ignore it.

By now, at 48, she realizes that as you age, you become more aware of your style and what you wear. She said, “There’s this notion of ‘age-appropriate’, which everyone encounters at some point. But ultimately, you have to learn to feel comfortable in your own skin and understand what suits your body. I know my body fairly well. I’m aware of the areas I’m not very comfortable with, so I choose clothes that conceal them. There are days when I feel bloated or not in shape, so I dress according to my mood while being mindful of my imperfections. I’ve learned this over the years.”

When asked why she doesn’t respond to negative comments online, Malaika says she avoids negativity. She only speaks up if someone close to her is targeted. She doesn’t feel the need to justify herself to anyone and prefers to keep her peace of mind by staying silent. “I will engage with them (trolls) the day I feel that it needs to be addressed and if I feel somebody is going after someone close to me or my near ones or dear ones, my loved ones. Then of course it requires me to stand up and say something, otherwise, I won’t waste my time, energy, my breath and my sanity. I don’t think it’s worth it. I’ve got other things to do and worry about. I don’t need to justify anything to anyone whether it’s my personal or professional life; I don’t owe anybody an explanation,” says the actor, adding, “I maintain a certain level of silence because I choose to be like that. I don’t like and want that extra noise. That’s how I keep my sanctity intact, and I’m happy like that,” she said.

The actor admits she judges people who spend time reading comments on her posts. She wonders how they have the time and energy to do so and believes there’s more to life than focusing on online comments. “I mean, I will read my own comments and see what’s written about me. But when others do that, sit back and read somebody else’s comments, I genuinely judge them because I’m like, ‘Don’t you have anything better to do in life?’ I really wonder how these people have the time and the energy to sit down and read, comments after comments and actually think that is what life is all about. There’s a lot more to focus on in life and not let these things get the better of you,” said the actress.
