Actor Don Lee, also known as Ma Dong Seok and his wife, Ye Jung Hwa, are officially set to get married this May, three years after officially registering their marriage. Despite legally registering their marriage in 2021, the couple kept it private until Lee publicly referred to Ye as his wife during a speech at the 12th SACF Artist of the Year Awards in 2022. The wedding ceremony, scheduled to happen on May 26 in Seoul, South Korea, will be a private affair as only close family, relatives and colleagues will be invited. Lee’s hectic Hollywood shooting schedule, including his role in Marvel’s Eternals, delayed their plans for a formal marriage ceremony since 2021. Initial reports speculated that the two would exchange vows on May 25, but as per Soompi’s report, News1 confirmed that the couple has chosen May 26 for the event.
Most recently, Lee and Ye’s agency, Big Punch Entertainment confirmed the news with News1 and a representative stated, “The couple will be getting married in May. The wedding will be held in a quiet private ceremony.”
Ma Dong Seok, who has been in a relationship with Ye Jung Hwa since 2016, is 17 years older than her. During his acceptance speech after winning the Film Artist Award for his movie The Roundup in 2022, Don Lee acknowledged his continued growth as an actor and producer and also highlighted the importance of the award, which he claimed was a source of encouragement. Further, he caught everyone’s attention after he called Ye Jung Hwa his “beloved wife” and her supportive family, as well as his colleagues from the movie.
Meanwhile, the upcoming weeks are set to be filled with excitement for the actor. Firstly, the fourth instalment of The Roundup is scheduled to be released on April 24th. Then, just a month later, he will publicly marry the love of his life, Ye Jung Hwa. She has constantly supported Ma Dong Seok, as she earlier accompanied the actor during the premiere of Eternals in Los Angeles, USA. Recently, she was by his side during promotional activities for The Roundup: Punishment in Japan.
Don Lee began his acting journey with a supporting role in Dance with the Wind before landing lead roles in several blockbuster movies such as Train to Busan, The Outlaws and Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days. On the other hand, Ye Jung Hwa started her career as a model and later appeared in a cameo role in The Soul Mate, where Lee played the lead alongside Kim Young-kwang.
