Kriti Sanon made her Bollywood debut in 2014 when she starred alongside Tiger Shroff in Heropanti. The film went on to become a commercial success and Sanon became one of the most popular faces in Bollywood. However, with the success of the film, she was labelled as ‘Tiger Shroff’s heroine.’ In a latest interview, the actor opened up about this label and how she made her way to the top.
Speaking to Indian Express, Kriti Sanon talked about how the audience labelled her as ‘Tiger Shroff’s heroine’ after Heropanti. She mentioned how it took her a long time to establish herself in Bollywood because she did not hail from a filmy family. She revealed how she was also referred to as ‘Tiger didi’ at one point. The actor said, “People referred to me as ‘the one who appeared in Tiger Shroff’s movie.’ When you are not from the industry, it takes longer for you to etch your name and face into the minds of people. At that point, the kids of Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, who later directed Bareilly Ki Barfi, used to call me ‘Tiger didi.’ Those were the instances when I realized I would have to work doubly hard to get people to recognize me and know me for who I am.”

Talking about Heropanti, she mentioned how the makers treated her as a newcomer. She has appeared in a Telugu film, 1: Nenokkadine, before her Bollywood break. She praised the makers and said, “It didn’t take me that many years to get my first break. At the time of Heropanti, though people knew Tiger and that the movie marked his launch, the director and producer treated the movie as launching two new faces. I got the quintessential Bollywood heroine moment too, with songs and everything.”
After Heropanti, Sanon starred in hit movies like Dilwale, Bareilly Ki Barfi, Luka Chuppi, Housefull 4, and Mimi to name a few. She won the National Award for her performance in Mimi. On the work front, she is currently gearing up for the release of Do Patti. The actor will be seen in a dual role in this drama. The romantic thriller also stars Kajol, Tanvi Azmi, Shaheer Sheikh, and Brijendra Kala in key roles. Directed by Shashanka Chaturvedi, it is all set to release on Netflix on October 25.
