Karwa Chauth 2024: Sonam Kapoor Says She Doesn't Fast for Hubby Anand Ahuja, Adds 'I Don't...'
Sonam Kapoor is not observing the Karwa Chauth fast this year. However, that hasn't stopped her from indulging in the activities revolving around the festival.

Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor revealed she doesn’t observes the Karwa Chauth fast. The actress took to her Instagram Stories and revealed that she doesn’t follow the tradition. However, she does enjoy the festivities around it. Sonam joined her family on Saturday night to apply mehendi and sit with fellow married women who were observing the fast.

In the first picture shared on her Stories, Sonam revealed that she had got an elaborate mehendi designed on her hand and it featured a nod to her husband, Anand Ahuja, as well as their son, Vayu. The picture appeared to be a repost. The caption read, “Karvachauth eve…mehendi done…thank you @kapoor.sunita (red heart emojis). @sonamkapoor, your patience, omg (tongue out emoji). Missed you @maheepkapoor.”

She followed it with a close up photo of her mehendi-covered hands. The picture revealed that she got Anand’s name on one wrist while Vayu’s name on the other. She then shared a photo and wrote, “I don’t fast FYI but I like the mehendi dressing up and food… (winking face with tongue emoji).”

This is not the first time that Sonam has revealed that she doesn’t fast on the occasion of Karwa Chauth. In 2018, when the couple was marking their first Karwa Chauth, Sonam said, “I hope to live my best life with you always my love.. and to being the most progressive, compassionate and gentle man I know. Happy KC and thank you for bullying me into not keeping it in the most hilarious way possible. @anandahuja #everydayphenomenal.”

Coincidentally, even Rhea Kapoor had said in 2022, shortly after she married Karan Boolani, that she doesn’t observe the fast either. “Respectfully please don’t reach out to me for karva chauth gifting or collabs. It’s not something Karan or I believe in. We respect other couples who partake and can even enjoy the festivities while they do. It’s just not for me. Or us. So the last thing I want to do is promote something I don’t believe in and don’t really agree with the spirit it comes from,” she said at the time.

This year, Karwa Chauth is being observed on Sunday, October 20. As part of the tradition, married women observe a fast for their husband’s protection and long life.
