South actress Kajal Aggarwal is preparing for her upcoming projects, including Satyabhama and the highly anticipated film Indian 2 alongside Kamal Haasan. Meanwhile, her previous Tamil film Karungaapiyam, which was released in Telugu as Kajal Karthika, has reappeared in the news almost a year after the release.
Kajal Karthika is a Telugu horror thriller written and directed by Deekay where Kajal Aggarwal and Regina Cassandra play the leads. The Tamil film Karungaapiyam was dubbed in Telugu as Kajal Karthika. Unfortunately, the film didn’t impress the audience in either of the two languages.
Critics pointed out the unoriginal plot and the ineffective horror elements that did not instil fear. The plot revolves around a girl tired of the curfew due to the pandemic who visits a new library with her friend. There, she discovers an old book full of eerie stories that seem to predict the future. Although she experiences paranormal events while reading, she continues to read and finds a story about a friendly woman accused of witchcraft. The tragic story of the woman reflects the name and life of the girl. When the girl tells the story to the end, she experiences other supernatural events.
Kajal Karthika with Kajal Aggarwal and Regina is to be released one year after the release on OTT platforms. The film is set to stream from April 9 exclusively on Aha OTT.
In addition to Kajal Aggarwal and Regina Cassandra, the film also plays Janani Iyer, Raiza Wilson, Noyrika Bhatheja, Kalaiyarasan, Yogi Babu, Karunakaran, Lollu Sabha Manohar, John Vijay, Sha Ra, Aadhav Kannadasan, VJ Parvathy, TSK, Sherlin Seth, Kutty Gopi and others in supporting roles. The film, in which Deekay directed and wrote the script, was produced by Padarthi Padmaja. Vignesh Vasu took over the camera work, while Vijay Velukutty was responsible for the editing. The music of the film was after Yaamirukka Bayamey and Kaatteri S N Prasad’s third cooperation with Deekay.
