Janhvi Kapoor is currently awaiting the release of her highly anticipated next Mr And Mrs Mahi. The actress will be essaying the role of a doctor turned cricketer in the film. The film also stars Rajkummar Rao in the lead and both Janhvi and Rajkummar are leaving no stone unturned to promote the film. However, in a recent interview, Janhvi was left shocked after Rajkummar made a remark about her nepotism joke.

Janhvi Kapoor recalled how during her school days, she part of a choir but while performing, the mic in front of her was turned off as she couldn’t sing well. “The mic in front of my face was switched off intentionally. The woman said ‘Janhvi ke saamne vale mic ko off karo (Switch off the mic in front of Janhvi.)’,” she recalled in a chat with Mirchi Plus.

Rajkummar remarked, “Rakha kyu bechari ko fir? Mana kar dete (Why did they keep her in the choir? Could have said no).” Janhvi jokingly said, “Nepotism, of course. Isliye toh rakha tha mujhe choir mein (That’s why they kept me in the choir).”

Rajkummar retorted, “Fir toh theek hai. Fir toh kaash zindagi mein bhi hum bahut saare mics off kar pate (Then it’s okay. Then I wish we had the ability to switch off many other mics).” Janhvi was shocked by Rajkummar’s asked, “Is that a taunt to me?” Rajkummar reassured her that this wasn’t the case and reminded her that this was their second film together after Roohi in 2022.

As for the film, the trailer was released recently after much anticipation. The heartwarming trailer showcases Rajkummar Rao as Mahendra (Mahi), a former aspiring cricketer who now sees potential in Janhvi’s character, also named Mahi, a doctor. Encouraging her to pursue cricket, the trailer provides a captivating look into a story filled with dreams, ambitions, and the imperfectly perfect love story of Mahendra and Mahima that is sure to captivate audiences.

In an interview with Mid-Day, Janhvi had earlier revealed that she underwent a gruelling six months of intensive training in order to adapt to the mannerisms of a cricketer. The actress had said, “It was an exhaustive process of six months to get into the skin of the character and sync into the role.”
