If the year saw several Box Office hits, it also helped small budget independent films make their presence felt. From the hits to the misses, our readers tell us what we will remember the Indian showbiz industry for in 2015.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's epic love story 'Bajirao Mastani' which featured Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra in key roles was definitely high on scale and grandeur too. And this is why our readers voted for it (58.54% votes) and made the film win Best Costume Design Award.
Fashion designer Anju Modi, who had designed costumes in ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela’ was also roped in for ‘Bajirao Mastani’. While Priyanka was seen wearing saris in Maharashtrian style, Deepika’s layered outfits, angrakha jackets, sharara, and lehengas were simply beautiful. Ranveer had to wear angrakhas, jaamas and dhotis.
Bahubali (30.32% votes)
The extensive research that Rama Rajamouli and Prashanthi did in creating amazing outfits for ‘Baahubali’ stars coudn’t be ignored. While Tamannah Bhatia was seen in earthy colours, Ramya sported traditional south Indian outfits, Anushka Shetyy was seen in soiled clothes. But the attention to detail was impressive.
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (6.31% votes)
Sonam Kapoor looked flawless in the interesting mix of traditional outfits in ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’. Sonam’s ensembles were specially created by acclaimed designer Anamika Khanna. Needless to say, her desi style was just so apt!
Bombay Velvet (2.85% votes)
National Award winning costume designer Niharika Khan was quite impressive in changing style as 'Bombay Velvet' spanned different decades- 40s, 50s and 60s. Every bit from – Anushka’s glamorous outfits without being showy, Ranveer’s double-breasted suits, waistcoats, jackets were amazing.
Piku (1.98% votes)
The entire team of ‘Piku’ was so much in love with Deepika Padukone’s look in the film that they has launched a collection of dresses, made on the lines of her character. But costume designer Veera Kapur deserves to be applauded for keeping the look for the characters so real.
