Phenomenal performances and great films; these are not the only two things that surprised us in 2015. It was a year that took special care to even make the negative roles stand out in their story lines. While the eventful year 2015 saw its share of disappointments, it did surprise many with the wonderful concepts and ideas that turned into films. There were films where even the characters in negative roles left indelible impacts on the minds of the viewers. It wouldn't be too wrong to say that a lead's performance can not shine unless there's a substantial 'negative' hurdle to it. While few characters were made memorable by the impeccable acting skills, others ended up owning the film.
In the third edition of IBNLive Movie Awards, we select nominees in various popular categories and allow our leaders decide the outcome. Take our poll to vote and choose your favorite actor in a negative role of 2015.
Ronit Roy ('Guddu Rangeela')
The only act in the film that managed to not only convince you but ended up overshadowing every other performance in the film was that of Ronit Roy. Starring Arshad Warsi, Amit Sagh and Aditi Rao Hydari along with the actor, the film revolves around two small town boys who want to make it big in the world. Ronit Roy assays the role of a money-minded, corrupt politician Billu Pahalwan that just salvages the film.
Tanvi Azmi ('Bajirao Mastani')
'Bajirao Mastani' won various accolades not just for its extravagant portrayal but for the fine acting of its actors. While Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra did well in their role plays, there's another actor who did exceptionally well in this period drama. Tanvi Azmi, who played the role of Ranveer Singh's mother Radhabai was not just instrumental in Bajirao's life story but had it not been for her fine acting, the emotional and the strength aspect wouldn't have been the same in the film. The actor even went bald to give her character a realistic feel.
Deepti Naval ('NH 10')
'NH10' can easily be called as one of the game changers of Bollywood. While the film made an attempt to take on the deep-rooted patriarchy, it also gave a chance to Anushka Sharma to ride solo for the film. One character in the film without which Anushka's struggles wouldn't have looked as convincing as it did, is Deepti Naval's character Ammaji. As hard as you may try, you can not find a single false note in her performance.
Neeraj Kabi ('Detective Byomkesh Bakshi!')
With a backdrop of war-driven Calcutta during the 1940s, the film revolves around the first adventure of Byomkesh fresh out of college as he decides to pit himself against a mastermind criminal. Neeraj Kabi plays the pivotal role of a physician Dr. Anukul Guha who also runs hostel in the film. Needless to say, he pulled off this role with such excellence that his name entered the long time baddies of Bollywood.
