Breaking Gender Stereotypes, Babil Khan Embraces Makeup and Skincare
Flaunting his love for skincare, face masks, and even makeup, Babil Khan asked fans on Instagram how people can still hold gendered and sexist notions against them.

It’s 2021 and people are orthodox enough to believe a man taking care of himself makes him girly. Whether it’s household chores or wearing bright colours and makeup — social media trolls attack any male celebrity/influencer when they do what these trolls consider ‘unmanly'.But late Irrfan Khan’s son, who is quite popular on Instagram, is here to shut down these naysayers.

Flaunting his love for skincare, face masks, and even makeup, Babil askedon Instagram how can people still hold such gendered and sexist notions? He could not believe there are still people who ask whether he is a girl or not when he wears face-mask or make up before going out. In a long message to his trolls, he called them out for their toxicity.

He said everyone in this world is made of what he called “cosmic duality.” Adding, any malecan only every truly be a man by recognising the woman present inside. A man must realise there is a feminine dimension inside; the absence of which he called “toxic masculinity.”

“I love looking after my skin, I love looking sexy, I love women and I love being a man,” he posted this caption along a video in which he said how he gave himself a black spot while sleeping.

Hundreds of people applauded him for his caption. The young student, who is currently studying filmmaking and acting in London, recently posted another photograph where he was seen wearing a face mask.

On Valentine’s Day, Babil noted how it was breakout season and insinuated that even though he was making himself look better with the mask, he had no date.

While majority of people appreciated his candour, some called out how things like skincare and makeup are girly pursuits, unsuited for a “man.”

However, gradually such notions are being challenged. Screenwriter, lyricist, and stand-up comedian Varun Grover shut down trolls who called him out for wearing nail polish last year. He posted a series of Instagram stories schooling the trolls on how wearing nail polish was an easy way for him to make his hands look pretty and how there is nothing gendered about the act.

Influencer Ankush Bahuguna also created a whole new Instagram page, breaking stereotypes and barriers. He regularly posts himself with makeup tutorials.
