A case has been filed against an actress and a lawyer from Aluva based on a complaint by actor and director Balachandra Menon. The police have registered an FIR following Menon’s claim that both the actress and the lawyer threatened him over the phone.
Balachandra Menon alleged that the actress, who hails from Aluva, made obscene remarks about him on platforms like YouTube and Facebook. Furthermore, the police stated that the accused had misused Menon’s pictures. As part of the investigation, a case has also been registered against YouTube channels that uploaded interviews featuring the actress. She is expected to be summoned for questioning soon.
Previously, a sexual harassment complaint was recently filed against Balachandra Menon by the actress in question. This complaint alleges that he sexually assaulted her during the shooting of his film De Ingot Nokye. The actress from Aluva, who had previously filed complaints against actors including Mukesh, also lodged this complaint against Menon with the Special Investigation Team.
The complaint against Balachandra Menon has escalated with further serious allegations. It is now stated that he allegedly forced the victim into group sex, entered her hotel room, and sexually assaulted her. The complaint states that this happened back in January 2007. The actress involved also claims that Menon threatened to remove scenes from the film if they spoke out about the incident, adding to the pressure she faced at the time.
The actress explained that fear prevented her from filing a complaint earlier. She has since come forward, adding these allegations to her prior complaints. It’s important to note that she had previously lodged complaints against seven other individuals, including actor Mukesh. Balachandra Menon has responded that the allegations are baseless and that legal action would be taken against the complainant.
This development comes as an aftermath of the publishing of the Hema Committee report, following which many actresses have opened up about sexual harassment in the Malayalam film industry.
