The jaws dropped in surprise, when the audience saw the raunchy trailer of ‘Kya Kool Hain Hum 3’. The three-minute long trailer left everyone speechless because of sheer in-your-face voyeurism.
Third installment of the comedy caper by Ekta Kapoor, clearly is an attempt to cash in by offering cheap thrills to the audience. The movie that features Tusshar Kapoor and Aftab Shivdasani along with ‘Bigg Boss 9’ contestant Irani model Madana Karimi has made news by introducing the entertainment hungry Indian audience to a new genre called porn-com.
After a series of movies replete with cheap jokes and double meaning dialogues served as adult comedy, here is yet another so-called category to woo the masses. Indian comedy movies by and large have relied on cheap jokes and dirty humour to evoke laughter in the name of comedy.
Our filmmakers have rarely thought of experimenting with subtle and intelligent humour in our films. In the name of comedy, all we have been served with is either Mahmood style laughing on regional stereotypes as in 'Padosan' or cross-dressing men as in Humshakals or Dada Kondake style of low-brow jokes in movies such as ‘Tere Mere Beech Main’, ‘Andheri Raat Mein Diya Tere Haath Mein’ etc.
Inder Kumar’s ‘Grand Masti’ was his unapologetic attempt to introduce a section of mature audience to adult comedy. Hell bent on creating a space targeted for the adult content, Inder had said that he wanted his brand of humour should be consumed by the audience, who believed in it.
The movie did not face any major issue from the Censors at the time of release in theatres, but it had to undergo 218 cuts only to get a clearance to be screened on TV.
Wannabes such as Indo-Canadian adult Sunny Leone, foreign exports such as Bruna Abdullah, Evlyn Sharma and Mandana Karimi have emerged as the face of these movies while flop stars such as Tusshar Kapoor, Aftab Shivdasani, Vivek Oberoi and more, are the actors who have acquired an expertise in this genre.
Beginning with ‘Kya Kool Hai Hum 3’, a number of cringe-worthy movies are lined up for 2016, which also includes Sunny Leone starrer ‘Mastizaade’. It is surprising to note that the Censor Board that had raised objections and had chopped off the two kissing scenes has merrily allowed these movies which are replete with suggestive and low-brow content.
Directed by Umesh Ghadge, ‘Kya Kool Hai Hum’ is a risque entertainer about two friends, who get trapped in the international adult film industry.
When Masti and Salman Khan-starrer ‘No Entry’ hit the screen, it was seen as the beginning of naughty comedies, but over the years the filmmakers have started to explore bold and corny scripts, realizing its increasing popularity.

Masti (2004): As compared to its sequel 'Grand Masti', the movie starring Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani and Riteish Deshmukh, which was the story of three hen-pecked husbands, trying to get naughty can be dubbed as innocent as a nursery rhyme.
Kya Kool Hai Hum (2005): Directed by Sangeeth Sivan, the movie was released as the first adult comedy. Despite extreme criticism, the cheap humour guaranteed box office success.
Delhi Belly (2011): Produced by Aamir Khan, and directed by Abhinay Deo, the movie was more of a black comedy which was replete with expletives and toilet humour.
Grand Masti (2013): Directed by Indra Kumar, everything about the film –be it the content or the poster was vulgar, to say the least. But the low-brow content was instrumental in making the movie a big hit.
Kuch Kuch Locha Hai (2105): The movie starring TV star Ram Kapoor was largely about camera zooming to décolletage Sunny Leone and Evlyn Sharma. The bikini humour thrilled a section of audience; still it sank at the box office.
