National award winning filmmaker Hansal Mehta is back with his latest directorial venture 'Aligarh'. Based on a real-life event and social-drama, the film features Manoj Bajpayee in the role of a Marathi teacher who faces prejudices from the narrow minded society on his sexual orientation. 'Aligarh' also features Rajkummar Rao as a journalist who uncovers Bajpayee's story.
The film is the third collaboration between Rajkummar Rao and Hansal Mehta. They had previously worked together in 'Shahid' and 'Citylights'. This film talks about Section 377 in a way that has never been shown before in any mainstream film.
After garnering positive response at various film festivals, 'Aligarh' has been one of the most awaited film of the year and it's now ready to hit the minds of the people on February 26.
